Summertime is in full swing and I absolutely love the hot weather, days at the beach, and camping. However, summer can also come with dry skin, sunburns, runny eyeliner, and messed up hair. That’s why I’ve compiled this summer essentials list jam packed with all of the products you’ll need to keep in your arsenal from body care, to beauty and hair care, to fashion and other basic summer essentials.
All of these products are ones that I currently use and love. I tried to find links to as many as possible, and all of the links that are Canadian friendly with good shipping have a (CA) beside them. As you know, I try to search out for all natural and cruelty free products as much as possible and most of the beauty and hair care products listed below fall under that category.
There is also a video at the end of the post. I may have gone a little overboard and the video ended up being a half hour, whoops! So take a look through the list, and if you have lots of time on your hands and want to check out the video scroll on down to the bottom of the post.
Body Care Summer Essentials
Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport in 50 spf. Works great until I can find a more natural sunscreen to use.

LoveWinx Frisky Body – Body Gel. With aloe and cooling peppermint this stuff soothes your skin and leaves it feeling nice and cool, perfect for sunburns.
Anderson Lilley Sicilian Tangerine Beach Butter Body Cream. It works great and smells uh-mazing.

Whiffcraft Wake Up Your Face (CA). With peppermint is great for perking yourself up a bit and adding some moisture. You can use the same coupon code as above for $5 off your order.
Day Moon Bod Powder. Sprinkle this stuff on any sweaty area to help prevent chaffing, you can thank me later.
Beauty Summer Essentials
Avene Ultra Light Hydrating Sunscreen. For when you need some extra face protection without the extra grease of body sunscreen.
Moisturizer with SPF
Arbonne Oil-Absorbing Day Lotion with SPF 20 (CA). Works great at keeping the skin moisturized while protecting against the sun. It wears great under makeup too.
There are so many great highlighters out there to make your skin glow throughout summer. Right now I rotate between highlighters from Cargo Cosmetics, Elate Cosmetics (CA), and Colour Pop Cosmetics (CA). Shine bright my dear!

Make Up Forever Aqua XL Eye Pencil. I received this in an Ipsy bag and it works great. I’m still on the search for a great waterproof mascara, let me know in the comments below if you have any suggestions.
LipSense (CA). I recently fell in love with LipSense because it actually stays put all day long. Put it on after breakfast and you’re good to go for the entire day. Until July 25th you can enter for your chance to win a free lippy. Check out this FB group Lasting Lips by Megan for more info.
Whiffcraft Coffee Buzz Lip Balm (CA). Another awesome item that’s all natural, works great, and smells uh-mazing! Again, if you’d like to receive $5 off your order use coupon code “REFK5FPL60KCI” at checkout, see my store for more details.
Hair Care Summer Essentials
Korane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. This plant based and vegan formula works great at absorbing 2nd, 3rd, and, ahem, 4th day oil from your hair. It an be found at some Shoppers Drug Marts and London Drugs in Canada.
Leave in Conditioner
Fashion Summer Essentials
A good pair of denim shorts are a must. I’ve been loving the shorts from Urban Behaviour/Urban Planet/Sirens. They’re a good length without being too short and they’re nice and light and stretchy.
Baseball caps are everywhere this summer. They’re great at keeping your head cool, the sun out of your eyes, and covering up messy hair. In the summer opt for one with light material and even a netted back like the one pictured above I got from Mexico.
A good shoulder covering is a summer essential. Opt for a light, large rectangular one with a cut down the middle half way up. You can wear it as a shawl, a sarong, or even a scarf. Great for the beach, road trips, and cooler nights.
A good tote bag is a summer must have. I’m obsessed with this one from Weddingstar (CA). When looking for a great tote bag make sure it’s durable, both the material and where the handles attach, has lots of room, and preferably has a flat bottom so it can stand easily.
Basic Summer Essentials
We all know how important water is for us, so make sure you stay hydrated all summer long with a cute water bottle. Right now I switch between two favourites: a metal double walled one (CA) that keeps water cold for hours and hours, and a nice bkr glass one that holds .5 L to help me reach my daily water intake.
Go To Snack
This snack is a summer essential because it’s so easy to make and great for bringing anywhere while you’re having summer fun. Just mix almonds with chocolate chips and dried cranberries for a tasty power fueled snack.
This is the year of cute floaties. Goodbye basic tubes and pool noodles and hello to fun floaties like pineapple and tootsie rolls. For Canadians I highly recommend checking out Marshalls or Winners for a great deal on cute floaties.
