You all know how much I love subscription boxes, and you may not know that I am also a complete tea addict. I have the biggest tea collection and collection of mugs and water bottles of anyone I know and I don’t see an issue with it. Needless to say I was super happy when I found the Amoda Tea Subscription Service, and even happier when I found out they are based right out of Vancouver BC making this a very Canadian friendly subscription service with no added exchange conversions or shipping fees.

Each box comes with 4 unique teas to your door every month, and for a tea lover like me I couldn’t be any happier with this subscription service. The box is caffeine free friendly by giving you the option of choosing a mixed box, or a caffeine free box, I opted for a mixed box. Each box comes with a short description of the teas, biodegradable tea bags, and enough tea to make 3 – 5 cups of each flavour.  There is also the option to purchase add ons like a tea spoon or tea filters, I chose to get a tea spoon for an additional $5 CAD.

The package arrived in a slim box that will fit in almost any mail box saving you a trip to the post office if you weren’t home at the time of delivery. Each tea is packaged with a label with flavour information and steeping instructions. All of the teas smelled amazing while steeping, and I was pleasantly surprised that all of them tasted like they smelled without needing any milk or honey (I like my tea black)! I’m a huge David’s Tea fan, but their teas are notorious for not tasting like they smell unless you add a good amount of honey to them, so I was very happy with how flavourful these teas were right out of the cup.

They also have a Tasty Tea Guarantee in which they guarantee you will like every tea. If you aren’t happy with any of the teas you can email them and they will replace it with a different tea in your next subscription box. If you absolutely love the teas you can purchase them from their Tea Shop after the 25th of every month and all subscription members receive a 15% off coupon code. They only stock their most popular teas on a permanent basis so if you really like a flavour you better snatch it up asap.

#1 PERFECTLY PEAR

Low Caffeine White Tea

Perfectly Pear is a mild spring tea made of Bai Mu Dan white tea and Asian pear essence. Although this tea was good I would say it was the least flavourful of all of the teas with a smooth, mild taste of white tea with only the smallest hints of pear.

#2 STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

Caffeine Free Rooibos Tea

I love rooibos tea and I wasn’t disappointed with this sweet strawberry shortcake version made of red rooibos, honeybush, rosehips, vanilla bean, strawberry leaf, hibiscus, and natural flavouring. It tastes just as it sounds with a smooth sweet flavour with notes of vanilla and hibiscus. I paired this tea with a light sweet snack of strawberry rosemary rhubarb jam with herb goat cheese on salt and pepper Triscuits, yum!

#3 MADAGASCAR DREAM

Med-High Caffeine Black Tea

This completely organic tea is made of Ceylon tea, Madagascar cacao shells, Peruvian cacao shells, peppermint, and vanilla extract. Basically it’s a tea version of a hot chocolate that is so tasty with hints of peppermint and vanilla. If you’re looking for something that tastes just like hot coco this isn’t a good replacement, but if you’re like me and find hot chocolate to be too sweet and thick, then this tea may be perfect for you. The flavour was so smooth and yummy and is perfect for an afternoon pick me up.

#4 SPRING BLOSSOM BAOZHONG

Low Caffeine Oolong Tea

Spring in a cup is the best way to describe this tasty tea made of Taiwanese oolong tea with jasmine and calendula flowers. This sweet and smooth tea is perfect for a cold brew. I still need to try it, but Jenny, owner of Oollo Tea, recommends using roughly the same amount of tea as you would for a hot brew, placing it in a tea pouch in a mason jar and leaving it overnight in the fridge. Cold tea brewing brings out the least amount of caffeine for a super smooth blend.

As you can tell I was really happy with this subscription service, and if you’re a tea lover like me I highly recommend it.
