Another great bag from one of my favourite subscription services. At first glance I wasn’t too stoked on some of the products, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised with how much I liked some of them. Read on to see my hits and misses for the January Ipsy Glam Bag Review.
#1 TRAVEL SIZE GLACIAL CLEANSING CLOTHS
I wasn’t overly impressed with these cleansing cloths. They did do a good job of removing my makeup, but I wasn’t a big fan of the texture of the cloth. It’s not like it was really rough, but I’m already a huge fan of Quo face wipes from Shoppers Drug Mart, and the glacial ones just don’t do it for me. Quo’s are really soft on the skin and do a great job of removing makeup. All in all these weren’t bad, and I’ll be happy to keep them in my gym bag, but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing them in the future.
#2 SATIN LIPSTICK IN VENGEANCE
An amazing moisturizing full coverage lipstick. I think this is my new favourite lipstick of all time! It goes on smooth, feels light on the lips, and doesn’t dry them out – and it’s really hard for me to find a lipstick that does all of this.
I’d also like to appreciate both the wicked name of Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics with it’s cute packaging, and how great a name Vengeance is for a confidence boosting, bold lip colour – they clearly have their naming game on point!
#3 MR. WRITE (NOW) EYELINER PENCIL
I love the name of this eyeliner, it’s super cute! I’m always a fan of self sharpening pencils, and this rich bronze colour is great with my blue eyes, and I bet the deep purple that came in some of the bags would look fantastic with green eyes. The formula is good, goes on smooth, and is long lasting. Mr. Write (Now) is a great eyeliner, I just happen to have more eyeliners than I know what to do with at the moment, so I won’t be rushing to the makeup counter just yet.
#4 MINERAL EYESHADOW IN YOU’RE TOAST
This eyeshadow is beautiful! It goes on light, soft, and shimmering. Again a great colour for blue eyes, and a super cute name. The formula is natural and organic which is a definite plus.
At first I thought, great, yet another gold eyeshadow that I have a zillion of, but after testing it I’m really excited to try some different looks with it – the formula is amazingly beautiful! They have quite an array of stunning colours to choose from in their product line. I’m really happy with this mineral eyeshadow.
#5 OPEN YOUR EYES EYE CONTOUR LIFTING FLUID
I’ve had pretty good sleep all week so I wasn’t able to test it out on sleep deprived eyes. A few minutes after I put it under my eyes the skin felt tighter, but I didn’t notice a huge difference. I’m interested to see how it will work after a late night. I’m a little on the fence for this product, we’ll see what it is like after a night with barely any sleep.
Overall I’m very happy with January’s Ipsy Glam Bag, and still think it is worth the cost with our rising loonie (this bag was $21). My favourite product is the Dirty Little Secret Vengeance lipstick, and the Marsk mineral eyeshadow – both these products are uhmazing! I am already eagerly awaiting February’s Glam Bag, and am thinking of doing a comparison of Ipsy vs. Birchbox for next month.
