FEBRUARY IPSY GLAM BAG REVIEW

Overall the February Ipsy Glam Bag was ok. Although some of the products are pretty good, I didn’t get really excited about any of them, however, I am really happy to see that they have started to include more vegan, cruelty free, and all natural products in the bag. It was also  nice to try out Smashboxes primer oil, although I have used face oils before I hadn’t heard of a primer that was an oil before.

February's Ipsy Glam Bag Review of Trust Fund Beauty nail polish, Perfectly Posh BFF face wash, Naked Cosmetics mica pigment, Smashbox Cosmetics primer oil, and Vintage lipgloss.

#1 PHOTO FINISH PRIMER OIL

Smashbox Cosmetics

It was nice to try out something a little different with this primer. I am happy with the oil when I use it under my light, every day makeup, when I mainly wear a light BB or CC cream with a bit of powder, however I think my skin would get too oily after a few hours if I were to use it underneath foundation. I have oily combination skin, and generally find my face to get oily towards the end of my day. That being said, I bet this would be a fantastic product for those who have dry to normal skin and want the fresh faced, dewy look. It feels great on the skin, is very moisturizing, and leaves the skin feeling nice and soft.

#2 MICA PIGMENT

Naked CosmeticsFebruary Ipsy Glam Bag Review of Trust Fund Beauty nail polish, Perfectly Posh BFF face wash, Naked Cosmetics mica pigment, Smashbox Cosmetics primer oil, and Vintage lipgloss.

The shimmering nude is a great shade to use as a highlighter for nights out. It does have a bit of sparkle so I probably wouldn’t use it for every day.  The Mica Pigment is all natural and non-comedogenic – it doesn’t contain any talc, oil, wax, or other fillers that are found in most cosmetics. Although I am happy with the pigment, the formula is very blendable and long lasting, I do feel like it is just another gold coloured eyeshadow that I seem to get in my bag every few months. I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have lots of extras of your basic neutral colours, and Ipsy  does need to please a wide range of people, but it would be nice if they changed it up more.

#3 SPARKLING LIPGLOSS IN PINK SEQUIN

VINTAGE by Jessica Liebeskind

I liked the colour of this lipgloss, but I’m not the biggest fan of the formula. It went on thick and felt kinda sticky, which is a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to lipgloss. There’s nothing worse than walking outside when there’s a little bit of wind and having your hair smother your face. I might use it again if my hair is up, but it’ll probably stay in it’s drawer for a while.

#4 BFF: BEST FACE FOREVER EXFOLIATING DAILY FACE WASH

Perfectly Posh

I was pleasantly surprised with the delicious scent of mint chocolate when I first used the BFF face wash. I’m a big fan of mint chocolate and this face wash smelled so good I could almost eat it. The formula felt refreshing, it had a good consistency, and the microbeads were gentle while still being able to exfoliate my skin. My face felt nice and soft after using this product, I’ll be keeping my eye out for other Perfectly Posh products.

#5 NAIL POLISH IN I’M KIND OF A BIG DEAL

Trust Fund BeautyFebruary Ipsy Glam Bag Review of Trust Fund Beauty nail polish, Perfectly Posh BFF face wash, Naked Cosmetics mica pigment, Smashbox Cosmetics primer oil, and Vintage lipgloss.

This vegan and cruelty-free nail polish has a great formula that goes on smooth and dries quickly. The colour is a nice light pink that goes great with the feeling of Valentine’s Day in February. I love the fact that it’s vegan and cruelty free, the more I’ve been able to test beauty products like this, the more superior I think they are. Not only for being vegan and cruelty free, but they seem to work better than other popular brands. I was also quite happy with the Zoya nail polish which I talked about in my Winter Fab Fit Fun Box Review, and I’ve been liking some other products I recently bought from a local health food store, Lifestyle Markets.

It’s nice to receive 5 new beauty products in the mail every month, and over the year I haven’t received any bad bags where I was unhappy with the majority of the products. Although I didn’t get too excited about any of these items – I’m still loving my Dirty Little Secret lipstick from my last Ipsy Glam Bag Review! – it was nice to try out something different. Smashbox’s Photo Finish primer oil was fun to try, and it was nice to try the ingredient conscious brands Naked Cosmetics and Trust Fund Beauty. I’m happy to see more vegan and all natural beauty items included in the Ipsy glam bag, and I hope they continue to include more brands like them in future bags.

I’d love to hear about what you received in your February Ipsy Glam Bag, and answer any questions you may have about Ipsy or any of these products, please leave me a comment below.

That’s a good point, I’ll see how this next bag goes, and I just might do that 🙂
