DECEMBER URTHBOX REVIEW 2016

I’m very happy with my December Urthbox. It came with a really good selection of snacks with different kinds of crackers and granola, as well as fruit bars and gummy worms! Many of the snacks suit all different kinds of diets by being vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and  non-GMO. I almost wish the Urthbox could be delivered bimonthly instead of monthly, I wouldn’t ever buy snacks and I’d end up eating healthier ones. By the end of this subscription I might end up renewing it with a larger box and make it our snacks for the month.

December Urthbox Review 2015 Happy Stylish Fit

#1 WAI LANA FRUIT & NUT BAR –
nana banana

  • Gluten free
  • Dairy free
  • No artificial additives
  • Non-GMO
  • Raw fruits and nuts
  • Low sodium
  • No added sugars
  • Vegan

The Wai Lana fruit and nut bar is a thick fruit leather with nuts in it. I’m personally not the biggest fan of these types of products so it wasn’t my taste, but Matt who enjoys thicker fruit leather snacks really liked it and wants to get more. It tasted fresh and had a good banana nut flavour. We will definitely be keeping our eyes open for other Wai Lana products.

#2 CRUNCHMASTER MULTI-GRAIN CRACKERS –
sea salt

  • Gluten free
  • Non-GMO
  • Cholesterol free
  • Saturated fat free

I’m a pretty big cheese and cracker person and I quite enjoyed the Crunchmaster crackers. There was only a hint of sea salt flavour. I originally thought of salt and vinegar chips when I was reading the package, but they tasted nothing like that. They wood be really good with cheddar cheese. They had a good texture for gluten free crackers – on the thinner side, with a good crunch. When I looked them up online it looks like Costco carries Crunchmaster brand crackers, fingers crossed I can find them on our next trip!

#3 BITE FUEL PROTEIN GRANOLA TRAIL MIX –
banana apple

  • 10 g of protein
  • Non-GMO
  • No trans fats
  • No Soy
  • No preservatives
  • No corn syrup

I really enjoyed the Bite Fuel granola trail mix. It contained bananas, apples, pecans, and almonds, flavoured with coconut oil, brown sugar and vanilla. I chowed down the granola by itself, but it would have been good as a topper on yogurt, and with 10g of protein it makes for a great after workout snack. I definitely want to try to find where I can purchase more locally.

#4 KITCH NO-GRAIN-OLA –
holy-coco-cacao

  • Vegan & paleo friendy
  • Soy free
  • Dairy free
  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten free
  • Grain free

This was also really tasty granola. I think it would have made a great dessert with some sweet vanilla greek yogurt! Made of vegan dark cocolate, raw cacao, toasted coconut chips, nuts and seeds, it’s a great way to snack away your sweet tooth! I think it would also be really good mixed into muffins. If I saw some Kitch No-Grain-Ola in a store I’d definitely buy some.

#5 WAUSOME WAFERS CHEESE CRISPS –
hug & kiss Colby/Swiss

  • Gluten free
  • Low sodium
  • No sugars
  • Law carb
  • 21 g protein per bag
  • 100% Wisconsin cheese

These are crackers made entirely from cheese! I’m a big cheese person, but I found them to be a little too much by themselves. They do have that stronger Wisconsin cheese flavour, so if you like that or aged older cheese you’ll probably love snacking on these. I liked the Wausome Wafers best when I snacked on them with a granny smith apple. The cheese and fruit mix was really good, and with 21 grams of protein it’d be a great post-workout snack.

#6 YUM EARTH ORGANICS GUMMY WORMS –
pomegranate pucker, mango tango, sourapple tart, perfectly peach

  • No artificial colours
  • No artificial flavours
  • Made with real fruit juice
  • Fat free
  • Nut free
  • Gluten free
  • 100% daily vitamin C
  • Soy free
  • Dairy free

I was most excited for these gummy worms in my December Urthbox, and they did not disappoint, I loved them! Normally I find other natural gummy candies to be slightly too thick and chewy, but the YumEarth gummy worms were the perfect thickness and texture. They are a lot smaller than traditional gummy worms – six of them would probably make up one normal worm. I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to find these in a store in town, they were really good, and I would feel less guilty snacking on them compared to traditional gummy worms packed with who knows what kind of ingredients.

Overall I quite enjoyed the December Urthbox, and am looking forward to my January shipment. There was only one snack that wasn’t my taste, the Wai Lana bar, but Matt really liked it and ate it up quick. The selection of snacks was great, I only hope that I will be able to find most of these products in local stores in Victoria, if anyone knows of anywhere please let me know!

I’d love to hear about what snacks you received in your December Urthbox, or if you’ve ever tried any of these snacks. Please leave a comment below or connect with me on social media <3

I love subscription boxes. I’m wondering… How do you think this would be received for a gift to a new mom/parent. Is it healthy and hefty enough to offer snacks and treats for a mom who is up all through the day and night feeding a baby? Hm… thoughts?

Hi Kassie, sorry for the delayed response. Urthbox offers 4 different sizes: 6, 12, 17, and 24 snacks per box. So I definitely think it would work great as a gift for a mom. They are healthy hearty snacks that curbed my hunger and satisfied any cravings. I really like your gift idea, I’m sure they’d love it.

Wanted to drop a remark and let you know your Feed is not functioning today. I tried adding it to my Bing reader account and got absolutely nothing.

I’d heard of Urthbox but didn’t know they offered a vegan box! I’ll have to check them out, thanks!
