Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet it’s a meal that is commonly missed by many people. Common excuses are I don’t have enough time, or I’m not hungry in the morning. Well screw those excuses! When you start making breakfast a routine you’ll be hungry for it, and you won’t binge eat later in the day as often – I can be sooo guilty of that! And with these super easy, super quick, and totally healthy breakfast ideas you can whip up some food in no time at all and eat while you’re running out the door!
Yogurt & Granola
- Vanilla greek yogurt
This is the quickest breakfast recipe and great for hot summer days. Matt and I are OBSESSED with this Krema Vanilla Greek Yogurt, but honestly any greek yogurt, or yogurt at all would work. I know plain is better for you, but I always end up adding honey later so I feel like I should just stick with what I like, it can’t be that much worse than adding honey to plain yogurt, but maybe I’m wrong.
You can use any kind of berries for this recipe, but lately I’ve been in a real raspberry kick, and Thrifty’s has the best BC grown raspberries right now that I can’t stop eating. You can also use any kind of granola, but I like to keep the sugar low and get my grains in with this 5 Grain Rogers Granola.
- Scoop a few spoonfuls of yogurt into a bowl.
- Sprinkle granola on top.
- Top it off with raspberries.
Peanut Butter Banana Waffles
- Peanut butter
- Frozen waffles
This recipe is soooo tasty and great for those who love sweet and salty. These Nature’s Path Pumpkin Spice Waffles are the shit. They’re gluten free, and you’d never know, and they’re tasty af. They also have a great berry flavour and a few other flavours I’ve never tried. If you haven’t tried these waffles you seriously need to.
- Toast your waffles.
- Spread peanut butter on them.
- Top with banana slices.
Hummus & Cucumber Toast with Egg
- Salt & pepper
This is another great go to breakfast of mine. The roaster red pepper hummus with cucumber is a fool proof combination for snacks, adding to sandwiches, or as in this healthy breakfast recipe, for toast. To get some extra protein I add a fresh hard boiled egg.
- Boil your water. Once water is boiled add your egg and boil for 7 minutes. Feel free to get your bag ready or do whatever you need to do during your crazy morning while your water is boiling and your egg is starting to cook.
- Toast your bread.
- Spread hummus.
- Add slices of cucumber to your toast.
- Peel and slice your egg.
- Top everything off with salt and pepper.
